Tranect Ltd designs and manufactures copper electrical connections, cable assemblies, terminals and earthing components for rail track, signalling, traction-power and overhead-line applications.
Rail infrastructure operates in a particularly unforgiving environment. Electrical components may be exposed to continual vibration, mechanical movement, moisture, contamination, temperature variation and high electrical fault currents. Connections must remain electrically reliable while tolerating movement between rails, structures, cables and installed equipment.

Overhead-Line Applications

Copper connections are used throughout overhead-line equipment and associated power-distribution infrastructure.

Earthing and bonding

Effective earthing and equipotential bonding help protect personnel, infrastructure and electrical equipment during both normal operation and fault conditions.

Earth straps can be manufactured in a wide range of conductor sizes, lengths and terminal arrangements. Protective sleeving, identification and alternative fixing configurations can also be incorporated.

For highly corrosive locations or specialist bonding requirements, stainless-steel earth bonds are available through our dedicated stainless-steel braid division.

Obsolete Rail Components

Rail infrastructure frequently remains in service for decades, by which point original components may no longer be readily available.

Tranect can reverse engineer existing copper connections, terminals and fabricated parts from:

  • Original drawings
  • Dimensional information
  • Photographs
  • Samples removed from service
  • Electrical and mechanical performance requirements

Using 3D CAD, CNC profiling, machining, forming and controlled assembly processes, we can manufacture replacement components without requiring customers to redesign the surrounding equipment.

This capability is particularly useful for maintenance projects, urgent repairs and refurbishment programmes where equipment downtime must be kept to a minimum.
