We were recently asked to manufacture two special cable lugs, 300mm² with 2 x M10 bolt holes for the repair of a drive motor on a heavy haul locomotive.
Using our Rail Industry grade heavy wall copper tube, we fabricated the terminals with an extended palm design to accommodate the two-hole fixing arrangement required by the customer.
Two-hole cable lugs are commonly used in high-vibration and high-current applications where improved mechanical stability and resistance to rotation are important. This makes them particularly suitable for rail traction equipment, power distribution systems and heavy industrial machinery.
The project was also a reminder of Tranect Ltd’s origins. When the company was established in 2001, a significant proportion of our work involved manufacturing replacement copper components and special terminals for rail vehicles. It is good to see that this side of the business remains active more than two decades later.
Tranect Ltd can manufacture custom cable lugs and special copper terminals to customer drawings or sample parts, including:
- Two-hole cable lugs
- Extended palm terminals
- Non-standard hole centres
- Tin plated copper terminals
- Heavy wall high-current connectors
- Flexible laminated and braided terminations
We hold a wide range of copper tube sizes and have the in-house manufacturing capability to produce prototype, repair and production quantities.
